Selfulfilling prophecy?

And when asked about the popularity of Nintendo's Wii vs. PS3 , Stringer said, "Wii is a wonderful device, but has a different target audience. If we fail, it is because we positioned PS3 as the Mercedes of the video game field. PS3 is after a different audience and it can be whatever it wants a home server, game device, even a computer."

That's not like Sony to admit they could fail.

Good stuff. The Mercedes of consoles...overpriced,bloated,overhyped yet strangely inadaquet, sounds about right.

whats real funny is the benz has fallen behind bmw the last few years kinda like sony has fallen behind ms the last few years. see mercedes has been a year late on features and consistantly put out ripoffs of what bmw put out a year prior.

It is ironic......now for some Sony fanboy to come in here and defend Mercedes in some sick way trying to defend the PS3.....who will it be?

If a good set of games come out, I think about getting a PS3.

But then again, I don't want to promote bad behavior. Bad Sony, Bad. You should be ashamed of yourself. Go to time out.

It's like I would feel bad about going into a store and buying one. What if someone saw me with it, what would they think. I feel like I have to boycott Sony all together.

When I listen to MS keynote speeches by Bill Gates and Peter Moore, they speak of what they can do for you the consumer. Gates talks about his dream of global connectivity and how he hopes he can make it happen for everyone. Moore speaks of kick ass games MS is bringing to you.

Sony talks abut themselves. "Look how advanced we are." "If you want the ultimate experience, then buy Sony." And of course, my favorite, "We think we can really position ourselves as the dominate HD format with the PS3."

MS talks about what they can do for you and the World. Sony talks about what they can do for themselves.

First of all regarding the above... what? That's just stupid.

Anyways, yes first thing I thought of was how the benz was dropping off. What timing for that statement!!

Have you ever seen a Bill Gates keynote Speech?? In every speech for the last 3 years at least he has talked soley about connectivity as it can be used in the everyday life. How much easier everyone's life will be once this is achieved.

Check out his CES Keynote.

Bill Gates and MS Corporation is truly amazing. MS donations are into the Billions. Bill and Melinda gates donate over $100 Million of their own money every single year. The Gates foundations funding has grown to $2 Billion.

So yeah, when I say Bill Gates talks in terms of what he can do for the consumer and the World, I mean just that.

Most importantly, they are actually doing it!

The difference is that Microsoft has completely walked their talk and has delivered on nearly everything they have promised when they promised it. Microsoft has especially revolutionized online multiplayer gaming with the level of integration the XBL has with each individual game. They have given consumers a choice by allowing them to purchase an HD-DVD drive if they demand it, rather than forcing people to buy it whether they want or not. Blue Dragon will be the first multidisc game coming out, and it's not going to kill anyone to flip in a new disc every 10+ hours of gaming.

Sony on the other hand has been all talk and has backtracked in a good portion of their claims. They have constantly been PR, and havn't delivered in many instances. Now it appears that they are realizing that they may have made a big mistake. Oops! It's still stupid for Sony to subtly admit it, because investors don't like it when the execs are starting to waver in their confidence behind their products. It's fine if Sony wants to be the Mercedez of consoles, but they better not expect the market share and volume sales of Ford or Toyota with Mercedez level pricing. Simple supply and demand economics here.

The Nintendo and the X360 have seen such success because they chose not to be the Mercedez of consoles. They chose to be the Ford, Toyota, or Acura of consoles. They might not come standard with some fancy BDP that some people may not want to pay for, but their products are also more affordable to your average consumer who would like to settle for that BMW or Mercedez, but can only settle for a Ford 500 or a Toyota Avalon.

Sony has lost there minds calling the Wii a "wonderful device." Wii is shit and Sony should be calling the Wii on what it is.

It's more or less further proof that Sony's execs are smoking some major stuff. I wonder what they smoke to come up with a lot of stuff they do. They constantly say things they should never been saying during PR sessions or even during private interviews with various publications.

PS3 is a piece of shit and and people should call it what it is.

Of course I don't actually fully believe that. You are so ignorant. If the Wii is such a piece of shit then why is it outselling the PS3 and the 360??? Why Jimmy??? Why????

The Wii is sooo good, it doesn't even support HD and it still spanks the PS3 in everyway. I actually like all the consoles, but just find it hilarious that you demoralize a console. Awww, poor Jimmy, what happened little guy, did the Wii piss on your console. Yes, yes it did. :D

People like different things. Not everyone in America has an HDTV, in fact most do not. Like you, you don't have one either, maybe your Mom and Dad do, but you don't. Therefore, HD makes no difference to them. In fact, SD Tubes will still be the majority for several years to come. Nintendo is genius for capitalizing on the mainstream market.

Ok.. off topic but that reminded me of something.. Here in PA (probably everywhere, it's a fed law) you now have to go to the pharmacy counter and fill out paperwork to buy SUDAFED!? I was dumbfounded and asked the pharmacist what was up and it's because of methlab crackdowns.

good point the ps3 is a gaming system that happens to play bd movies, not the other way around, and sony wont admitt this. there standalone players, aint selling and the ps3 is not selling,hd dvd folks buy players to watch hd movies.sony made a big mistake putting a bd player in the ps3,and its bitting them in the ass now!
