bitstream to your receiver and let your receiver do the decoding.

Linear PC is much better if you are using HDMI to connect to your receiver. Bitstream is supposed to be used for the optical connection. I believe that if you use LPCM setting with an optical connection, the sound will be defaulted to 2.1pcm. Many people still prefer this setting as opposed to dd5.1. Your receiver will then matrix the remaining channels to give you a full 5.1 or 7.1 field in your case.

so thats not a good thing? and i have another question, in the settings where u go through the little wizard where u choose what kind of a connection ur using for sound, there are few settings u can check/uncheck there, dolby digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 AAC and 2 PCM's that u cant uncheck, now, my onkyo s790 supports both dts 5.1 and dolby 5.1 and some others aswell however i only checked dolby 5.1, should i check dts 5.1 too? and what about aac too? and 1 last question, when im playin the ps3 and i 360, i put my reciever on "dolby d EX", ex is better than "dolby d" right?

i have it where the games play in 5.1 but the movies are only showing up in 2 channel on my receiver. I've tried all the settings but i can't make it see it the right way.
Any ideas other than get an hdmi receiver.
