I have been searching for a subwoofer to replace the 2 I have and after a lot of surfing and talking on forums I have decided to go with A outfit called Elemental Desiegns. Now I know there are alot of SVS and HSU fans out there but I think the sub I ordered, If it is all that I hear it is, is the best I could find for the money. I know that I have to get it home and try it for myself until I can make a final judgement but this sub looks to be worth the chance. The sub is an A5-300 and it runs a 12 inch downfiring sub with a FR of 18-100hz and an Lt/550 watt amp. It is 20''h x 18''w x 20''d. It is hand made when ordered and they said it would take 3 weeks to get here. This sub weighs in at 120lbs because of all the bracing they do. They also said something that shocked me, they would ship it to me FREE. That alone is saving me a good chunk of change. The price is $550.00 and it comes with a thirty day return policy. I know I am taking a chance on this but nothing ventured nothing gained. I will post a review after I get it home. The website is www.edesignaudio.com ..............CRANK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be interested in your impressions. There are actually more than Hsu or SVS to look at. I normally recommend to look at those because they are eye-openers for those who think a really good musical sub has to be very expensive.
There are lots of good subs out there like Velodyne and M&K. M&K is going out of business. There is talk they may start up again with overseas manufacturing. That could be a good or bad thing it's hard to say. But in the meantime there could be some real bargains out there on used ones like the MX-350.
Check out audiogon.com and other such sites. And check the reviews done by various pubs on various subs.
Lots of good DIY plans around too for some awesome subs. It's amazing what you can find in the way of loudspeakers from some more obscure but very motivated and competent small companies out there. www.av123.com, www.northcreekmusic.com, www.signalpathint.com, www.madisound.com, and the list goes on.
