Microsoft announced today that more than 6 million gamers worldwide are connected to Xbox Live, a milestone that was reached 4 months ahead of schedule. At E3 2006, Microsoft announced it expected to reach that target by June 2007.

XBL is M$'s killa app (service) with over 6 million users months before Halo 3 is even launched. I read that 3rd party Wii games won't be online this year and sony still working on PS3 online plans, I'd say 360 is about 2 years ahead of the competition.

I'm wondering if that's the reason why some of the PS3 developers are holding back with online play. If you don't have a good network and you release a multiplayer IP, that just spells disaster.

Yeah M$ has the infrastructure and experience. Thats the main reason I switch to 360 this time. I was so p*ssed of PS2 games lacking online play. Now sony has improved with PS3 but they still have much to improve on. Competition is always great to have.It will be interesting to see how the MMO games turn out. 360 is expecting at least one this year but PS3 should get the big daddy EQ at some point. I enjoyed playing EQOA on my PS2. I was part of 2 beta tests.

That game ruins lives:( I remember reading a PC World article one time with an article how EQ was the temporary death of so many other titles, people werent buying other games for months after it released. People were so stuck on it that other titles were being pushed back as to not compete with it.
