I've seen the commercial, just watch Sci-fi for 20 minutes and you're going to see it.

Don't know when. I suspect most of the 150 will be upconverts I guess. It doesn't matter if the channel is HD or not, if what's being broadcast on that channel is not HD, then what's the point. Sort of like watching TNT HD. They may call it HD, but it is definetely not High Definition.

I believe the commercial says "for a future of over 150 HD channels". I think they are just saying that with the new sats going up, they can carry that many HD channels. But as of right now, there isn't that many channels that even exsist.

I suspect maybe 10 more channels by January 2008, but don't expect much more than that.

Read the blogs that I have posted and numerous others. Also read the press release on the dtv website. 40 hd in 3rd quarter and more to come there after.

Have faith its coming.

If the original source is film and the method of HD broadcasting is via the same expensive studio equipment that HBO and Showtime use...then it's well worth it. With the exception of some programming on HDNet and Discovery Channel, most of the HD content is through this process.

Only channels with predominantly NTSC video content will be doing upconverting and even then it's with equipment that's far better than anything we can get our hands on.

I want the dam Weather channel in HD! I know that sounds crazy but I like to see the map and things in a better picture, like storm stories and stuff... Even IF some of the stations arent in real HD it would still look better!
