Ok. The guy came today and set up my HD Box n dish.. I Felt he was good and answered my questions, but as I played with things after he left I wish I had asked a few more questions and checked one thing I'll ask below....

First off I had sound on the Tv AND reciever before the DTV guy came, Now I only get sound on my reciever and the TV is Soundless, I tried BOTH remotes, the HD remote moves the volume bar but No sound, Same goes for the samsung remote, What gives?? am I missing something, I'm stumped and it's irking me....

As for Channels?? My locals ARE HD but the pic does'nt fill the whole screen, is that normal?? same for ESPN HD the shows were had the bars also. he set the Box to except 420 -1080i and I set it to native,So I think I got it right?? Any thoughts & input here are appreciated, Everything else seems fine I think

ST BTW I Like the tivo remote Better!! this new version DTV gives is IMO over saturation..

even if your locals have some HD shows, it doesnt mean that all of the programs will be in HD. Usually during the day, i dont see any of the shows in HD. Mostly they are the 'primetime' shows, or sporting events that will be broadcasted in HD. If the bars are on the side, that means it is not HD

Ok I found out how to raise the sound, for some reason I had to press the source button on the samsung LCD remote, it worked then, strange?? is there an easier adjustment??

as for the Channel Question. Please feel free to Still ansser what I asked. I learn fast and appreciate being shown and taught these things..

Help me understand a few things.

1. What remote isn't working?

2. What is your TV model

3. If you raise the TV volume manually, does that work or no? Manually meaning on the TV itself with no remote.

My guess is that this is a simple hook up issue.

I Feel like a tool here as I'm fairly good at trouble shooting..

Both Remotes - The New HD DTV Remote and the tv's remote CAN'T get the sound to Go Louder, the Volume bar Moves but No audible increase..

Volume comes thru the reciever. I have a samsung 4051 LCD, I DID look at the Guide to see what it said "Press Source I Did something right the 1st time AND it worked, but now it just jumps modes, s video, hmdi 2, I Lose the pic and still no volume...

I feel like a Di** cause I can't figure it out. I DID'NT have this problem till the HD went live, I'm betting its not the Tv but some step I'm missing... Maybe you can offer up some wisdom??

What kind of connection are you using? HDMI? Do you have a home theater?

I'll be honest here. Being disabled I Can't get behind to see whats hooked up where. HDMI?? Yeah I Now have HD. Sound comes thru the reciever, Just no volume increase when the volume bar Goes up..

I Made 2 calls, Both seem to think he missed a hook up, I'll have my cousin a comcast field tech come over and look, he should know, if needed we'll call DTV and they'll run him thru, I'm betting he'll set it straight no probs, but just in case I have a appt for sunday..

Thanks and sorry for this, it's just frustrating in some situations as far as hands on goes..

If sound comes through the receiver then changing the volume on the TV (which is what you must be doing since you can see the on-screen graphic) will not do anything. You have to change the volume on the receiver.

Yeah, if you can't get behind there you will need some help. More than likely, the sound is only going to your receiver and not to your TV.

You can have sound going to both if hooked up correctly, but if you cant get behind there it's best if a buddy comes and takes a look.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

If u have HD local channels,ESPN HD channels if the screen is not full it's normal.HD channels are total HD it depends on the station if they are going to shoot it wide screen, usually special events are shot in wide screen.

yes you should have 2 ABC NBC CBS AND FOX. the full screen channels
are standard def, the channels that have the bars on the left and right are HD. When the program is HD the bars will go away. Most of your prime time tv is in HD. I hope this helps. I have 3 direct tv HD boxes and all of them have sound issues, i just use the receiver for sound, i like hearing every thing in 7.1 dolby.:hithere:
