Def tech speakers

I have been researching my new ht system for quite some time now.
The problem is that I have been out of the loop for quite a while, so hopefully some of you pros can give some advise. I have decided to go with the denon 2807 and the sony KDL-52XBR2. I am still a little up in the air about the speakers though. I know I am somewhat limited by speaker choice due to the fact that the mains have to mount on the wall. And the surrounds need to be small also. I have listened to the def techs and really like them. Unfortunatly, I have not seen many other speakers for the size I need. So far it is the def tech mythos 2 for the mains, mythos 3 for the center and the gems for the rear. I am quite sure that whatever I end up getting, it will be night and day from what I have now. I just want to make sure that for roughly 2 grand, if there is something else i might want to hear. Keep in mind that they need to be of the smaller size and not too deep. That is why I keep going back to the def techs. Any advise would be appreciated. Jerry.

I know Magnolia A/V carried them. Along with a fine selection of competitive speakers. I would find a store if local (some are 'buried' inside Best Buys) and give a listen.
If you don't like the 'deal' you can probably get whatever you like cheaper online. But they dealed fairly with me a couple of times. Plus, I got free advice from one of their custom installers on speaker setup.
Don't compare them with typical BB sales people. At least, not in my experience so far.
But you are starting off with a well reviewed system. The Mythos fill the bill nicely.

So your budget is two grand for what, LF, RF, CNT, 2 SURRs?

Do you need a sub? Def Tech is heavily advertised in good HT magazines. I have no experience w/ them per se. How big is your room? I got my Atlantic Technology 2200-series 5 channels for around 1300. It's all wall mounted in my living room. It sounds great for a compact system. My room down there is only about 14x14. (I have a very old house, all the rooms are smallish.)

Check em out. I don't use the sub in the system. I had just gotten my Earthquake 10 as a birthday gift so I needed 5 speakers to finish the room. The 2200's are what I went with. Great looking, great build quality, great sound for smaller speakers.

I can get good prices on these if you're interested. A family member of mine is a distributor. PM/Email me if you do research and find you want them. I also have pictures.

My budget is 2k. I already have the sub, so all I need is the 2 fronts, center, and the rears. The 532's that you suggested look a little big for where I need to mount them, but thanks for the suggestion. Any other ideas for some smaller sized speaker? I am actually going over to BB to listen to the def techs again. This time, I will bring my own music with me. Jerry.

I just purchased Def Tech Pro cinema 100 fronts 80 for the backs ProSub 1000 {10inch 300 watts} subwoofer and Pro center 1000. Powered by Pioneer VSX-82TXS. Let me tell you, this system is small and it rocks. I have them in my bedroom which is 19x14ft. I'm telling you, half of the house shakes when it's at half volume. The louder you put it,the more clear it sounds. One thing I recommend, they just came out with a Pro center 2000 so I wouold go with that. I got the whole system from Magnolia for $2,100.

Well, I ended up getting the mythos two's for the mains, the three for the center, and the gems for the rear. All I have to say is these thing sound awesome! I am sure there are other speakers that sound as good/better, but for me, I couldn't beat the price. And for the size of each speaker, they really look great. Most of all, the wife is ok with them. I also got the denon 2807. What a difference from my old receiver. So far, we have only watched the Incredibles, and Top Gun. It's like my sub was given new life! Thanks for all of your inputs. Jerry.
