I want to hookup my own h20 receiver to my 3lnb dish and later on put up the 5lnb dish. My question is since I do not have local cahnnels in my area anyway will I be able to pick up all the HD channels with the 3lnb dish as I would have with the 5lnb dish. If not why. I guess I don't understand the ka/ku thing. I read in another thread that you would pick up the ku band with the 3lnb but would not receive the ka MPEG4 HD channels. I thought you could receive HD with the 3lnb. I am a bit confused, could someone explain this in simple terms.

Currently, Directv broadcasts some HD channels that are viewable on LNB3 -- most of the HD channels + Locals for East and West Coast. They will be switching to mpeg4, which is only viewable on LNB5 dishes. All new local markets will be broadcast in Mpeg4, as well as any new HD channels added.
