I want to install a new 5 lnb dish on my roof so I searched around ebay and noticed that some sellers are selling the 5 lnb ONLY. This is the lnb part that attaches to the arm of the satellite dish and point into the center of the dish.

My question is: Can you just remove your current 3 lnb and install one of these and get the extra 2 satellites? OR is it more involved than this?

Has anyone tried or done this?

thanks for any help

More is involve. The size of the dish needs to be wide enough to reflect the signals from the the sats to the LNB's. The 3 LNB dish is too small. You need the whole new 5 LNB dish from my understanding! Also the KA beam is much narrow thus needing to be almost exact when it comes to line of sight. The Ku band however is much wider, allowing room for more a direct alignment for the KA band.

The mounting brackets and poles are all different. It's also much harder to aim than the 3 LNB.
