Hello Everyone

Iím a new member to the forum, and just bought an HDTV (Samsung 42Ē DLP 1080i/720p Projection TV) about a month ago during all the holiday sales. After working for the National Geographic Channel for a couple of months I wanted to see the full potential of the programming I was part of. The HD channel was launched about a year ago during our five year anniversary and is a simulcast of our non-HD channel. Since we crossed the one year mark, I wanted to do some research outside of the numbers I see everyday and hear some real feedback from real HD viewers. What are your thoughts on the channel Ė have you seen it? Would it be better if we didnít simulcast our non-HD channel and aired different shows? If you havenít seen the channel, do you have an urge to? I would really like to get an idea of what a HD enthusiast really thinks about the channel. Also if you have any questions about the channel I can try to answer those too.

I'd love to see, probably would watch it everyday but directtv doesn't have it.

I enjoy the National Geographic channel. D*tv doesn't air it in HD yet, but I look forward to the day that they do. I think you should not simulcast it with the standard def channel. I would not want to see standard def programs upscaled. You should be comparable to Discovery HD and have all HD programming shot with HD cameras with 5.1 sound.

National Geographic HD is actually the channel I'm looking forward to the most. If the PQ can be as good as Discovery HD with the same shows on the SD channel, that would be great (Lisa Ling's explorer show, etc.). Theres more than enough birds, insects, and sunsets on Discovery HD.

If you are actually who you claim, ( I do hope so) I have been after Directv since the NG went HD! They form response is they want subscribers to contact the NG channel to ask for it to be on DTV programming. If so, can this be done? I see D/net carries it. Directv says they have better PQ. And the other night with the broadcast of "In the Womb" on the NG channel, I had my BIL rubbing my face in the fact I did was unable to see this incredible show in HD! Furthermore, flat screen tv sales were higher than expected this xmas season. Now with all these HD tv;s out there, and with the MEAGER offerings from Directv, would it make more sense to be offering especially this channel?? I do apologize for rambiling on. YES!! PLEASE!! tose of us with HD tv do so want this channel on dierctv. At present I am in the process of discussing this issue with Diectv. I am waiting on a call from them so I discuss this issue. I welcome feed back. respond to my mailbox aand I will give my e-mail if needed.

NG in HD would be great. And the History Channel. And I definitely would prefer simulcast showings.

I can't wait to be able to see NG HD, it's one of my favorite channels, If all the programming is broadcast in real HD quality and not upscaled then I wouldn't mind simulcast.

BTW this is my first ever post in this board, greetings everyone!

I believe that Dish Network offers NG in HD. Maybe you should post the question on that forum.

Dish has NGHD, as well as Food Network HD and HGTV HD...as well as Starz HD...all reasons I am making the switch from D* to Dish on Feb 1st. Perhaps D* will get all those HD channels they claim they will have by YE, but they seem to have a problem delivering on their commitments...so I think I will make the switch for 18 months and then re-evaluate the situation.

Thanks for the feedback. And for those of you who are able to check out the channel, NGC has some new shows airing soon that should look pretty great in HD. I'm looking forward to seeing our special about the Galapagos Islands What are your are your favorite types of shows that you have seen in HD so far?
