I ordered service from Directv (with a HD DVR) about a month before I got a HD TV(Phillips 50' DLP HDTV). The guy at the store gave me a cable (HDMI) and told me to run that from the TV to the Reciever. I could not find a HDMI port on the reciever. I have a green, blue, red cord that goes from the tv to the reciever, but I am not getting HD quality. This is my first HD experience and it has been a pain. I finally decided to let the internet community help me since everyone else has not. Did they give me the wrong receiver? Am I missing something.

If more info is needed just post what and I will get it for you. Please help me watch my Colts in HD this weekend. :(

Both DTV HD DVRs have HDMI ports. What model of HD DVR do yolu have?

Also, where are running the green/blue/red cords to? Which output of the TV?

Here's a picture of the back of the HR20.

The HDMI input is on the right hand side beside the S-Video connection (a circular connection with lots of little holes). It is the tiny slot to the left and a little down from the phone jack connection. It has a screw right above it. Hope this helps!

Or, you could look for the huge HDMI letters. :yippee:

What is your source of the HD signal, 1) over the air antenna (requires antenna to be hooked to antenna input on the back of the HR-20)

or 2) HD locals provided by directv (only available in certain cities and requires 5 LNB dish). What city are you in?

or 3) the HD package, gives you channel 72, 73, 74, 75, etc

All the HDMI cable does is takes the hd signal from the HR-20 to the TV, you have to get HD content from one of the above. Do you have any channel available in the guide labeled xx-1?

looks like the HDMI port is on the receiver you attached. I added an arrow to where it appears to be.
