I was poking around on the net today. Check this link out about the new direct TV HD stations being added this year if they finally do it.

D* talk is cheap. Was all that talk at CES or Disneyland? ;) D* is spinning lies for potential new customers, not the old burned out ones, like us!

D* promised my HD locals by 2007 and I'm still waiting. So I won't jump for joy, when I get those two extra HD channels next fall. :p

If D* ever releases a list of these new hd channels, you will almost certainly find that they are all locals.

I beg to differ, the news article title reads

DirecTV sees 100 HD channels, Net videos in '07

That's what they'll see... What will WE see?

Will my 2 year commitment be zero'ed for each channel as they come up?

I sure didn't mean to start a new thread that would cause everyone too BUM OUT. I was just trying to show a glimmer of HOPE that we may, and I emphasize MAY in our LIFETIME finally see some HD content before we die. I bought in too the HD craze a decade ago, so I know what disappointment is certainly all about. I canceled my HD programming that they gave me for half price today. The CS Representative tried her hardest to get us to not cancel, she said we are adding a lot of HD channels in 2007, we politely told her when they brought them online we would be glad to buy the HD Package again, but not until. If everyone would cancel their HD Programming maybe they would get the damn PICTURE. Their HD Programming isn't worth the half price that they gave it too me for, and I will tell you in my opinion, the HBO, SHOWTIME, and CINEMAX isn't worth what they charge for that either. Every movie is dated anywhere from the late 70's or the 80's and every once in awhile a movie from the 90's is on them but not many. What a total ripoff are those premium channels. It is my new years resolution to SPEND AS LITTLE AS I CAN WITH DIRECT TV UNTIL THEY CAN EARN MY MONEY! WHAT ARE WE TO DO SWITCH PROVIDERS AND GET MORE OF THE SAME TERRIBLE SERVICE THAT WE GET FROM DIRECT TV. THEY WROTE THE BOOK ON IT AND EVERYONE ELSE JUST FOLLOWS THEIR BUSINESS MODEL THEN FINDS A BUYER AND SELLS US OUT BECAUSE ALL WE ARE TOO THEM ARE NUMBERS TIMES X DOLLARS A MONTH. It's not locals. The plan is for national channels, as well as additional locals.

No, you won't see 100 national HD channels, there are not that many out there. But you will see 10-20 more by the end of the year most likely.

The are not launching the new satellites for good looks.

I am happy to see Direct get these channels and maybe more.

I just hope the Sats go up as planned or else Direct will lose a lot of customers, imo

I called and complained about the HD package and their ad. It is similiar to the one they ran a few years ago---tvs looking to the sky for the "new" HD channels coming soon. I got the HD package free for 4 months. Now I;ll wait and see--been with DTV about 10 years.;)

Last night while watching the National Championship game, Go Gators:, I laughed at the D* ad about 150 new HD channels. I have been hearing about all these new channels since I signed up with D* just over a year ago. The only new channel I have seen is Turner in HD lite with a lot of Law and Order reruns. I have also seen hours of pixilization and loss of signal blue screens. Before this year ends, I will probably be back with cable, they have a better product at less cost.

I'm not sure how new this is, but they are playing some generic content in HD on Channel 95. I know they used that one for Sports, but they are looping the FREE channel in HD now.

I'm new to the system and they haven't had a chance to really screw me yet, but so far I'm glad I'm with the D rather than Time Warner(my old provider), a company that, IMHO, really has an awful approach to customer service/relations. Given the nature of the industry by this time next year I too will be fed up with cost increases, channel limitations and service disputes . I read the link provided above and IF indeed we get these HD channels this year I'll be a happy camper.

I wish I could switch to cable, I would in a NY Minute, but unfortunately they don't offer cable tv on the road that I live on. If I could bet cable it would cost about the same as I am paying now and at least I could watch a couple of hunting channels that they offer. With DTV you have to subscribe to the most expensive package that they offer to get the same hunting channel. I am just picking I guess. I am just so disgusted that the size of a company that DTV is, they could have had their satellites in the sky years ago, its not like they don't have the money, heck they take in about 15 million times about 60-100 a month per household. I can't even figure that amount up, it is so much. I bought into the HD Craze a decade ago and we don't even have 10 channels as of yet and half of them are just ticker tape shows to run in the big box store to help sell all of those HD TV's we are buying just to get them home in time for no HD Content. Come on Direct TV, lets get some real good HD Content, It is certainly time for you too spend some of your capital. I seen last week where they were bought and sold, so I guess we have new owners, they will launch a new satellite and we can probably expect a rate hike shortly. Just wait and see.

Dear God, NEVER

The Cable channel here is going to pull our local CBS station because they are fighting with it.

Pathetic service anyway

Will stick it out with D* through the bad times even if I have to

i have read a few comments on the net about dish is gonna be better then D for hd. its just not gonna happen as dish rents its sats from D and other sat providers up there. hell i believe dish only owns 1 sat and the only reason they bought it was to screw with the D singal when it goes live. dont worry because it wont happen since D figured out a way to block it.

look D is telling the installers to get ready for the hd overhaul this year and there gonna be the biggest provider around. there doubling there training program so trainees can get that extra time to learn how to install the hd dish and other areas. there also starting alot of new internal stuff that all point to a huge company overhaul that will benifit there workers as well as customers.

after seeing all these moves internaly i feel D is in for a big year that will surprise alot of people. now if only i could get D in this complex.

not exactly. comcast already offers it and its not really hd. its more like 480p streached and its just one scene that is updated to show the local weather and nothing more.

The loss of the local "on the 8's" on TWC is my wife's biggest regret from our switch from cable to DTV. Gotta admit, I see that as a loss as well, but an acceptable tradeoff for the better PQ and lower cost...plus not needing to deal with the instutitional arrogance of Time Warner.

i would call that a great tradeoff. i have had a very good experience with comcast so far but would prefer having D* if it was possiable (maybe because i get the employee price) + pq is alot better.

But now we have interactive weather, press the active button on your remote and you get personalized weather...I did miss the local on the 8s but this is better...

...as for Comcast, they are the reason I went to Directv. I had them forever it feels like and had to have a technician out twice a year because they constantly screwed up my service. (including turning off my cable when they meant to turn off my neighbors)
