HDTV Ready??

how can i tell. bought a used sony kv36fv1 from my friend and he says it is "hdtv ready" but does not have any of the original documentation. how can i find out if he is telling the truth (assuming he knows it)?

Well, your friend is wrong. It's technically HDTV Compatible, but not Ready, meaning that it seems that it can accept an HDTV signal, but it will only display it in the max resolution of the TV, not in true HD.

That's where I got the info from. Since it has component inputs, he may have assumed it's an HDTV.

Well, your friend is wrong. I don't think it's even HDTV compatible. There's nothing in the spec that states that it in fact can accept a 720p/1080i signal (it lists signal type as standard NTSC). This is simply an older model CRT from the late 90's where the component video connections were provided for DVD players.
