Been noticing on my new Samsung LNS 4092D a shift in focus that someone said to me might be a deinterlacing issue.

I'm seeing in strandard def and when watching a regular DVD a shift in focus that lasts a nanno second.

IE in a wide shot I can see the trees in the background go in and out of sharpness for a second.
Also in a close up shot when someone is wearing a pinstriped shirt I can see the lines going in and out of focus for a second.

What is this ? Should I replace the set?

It's normal and one of the issues with LCD. It's called motion artifacts

I've seen the same thing on both a CRT and an LCD on OTA HD broadcast....last time I saw it was Sunday night, NBC Football nite in Amer. focus goes almost to stand def then corrects to HD sharpness.

Oops.....
The problem I see does not occur while viewing HD progamming.
Only on SD and on regular def DVD's

BTW
I'm talking about static shots, not shots that have motion, when I'm complaining about this resolution situation.

It could be either a de-interlacing issue, or a scaling issue (which is more likely since it only happens on SD and DVD's, which the display must upscale).

If you have a progressive scan DVD player and you still see it, it's not a de-interlacing issue, as the progressive output doesn't need to be de-interlaced.
