Center speaker recommendation

Reading all the posts makes your eyes hurt...

So I'm sticking with my old floor speakers that wifey wants to get rid of, and thinking of only buying a center channel speaker for now.

Recommendations on a center channel speaker for a 5.1 system?

Polk makes some mighty fine centre channels, so does klipsh, the paradigm cc-390 that I have is a beast but its a damn good centre as well, it all depends on how much your willing to spend and what your other speakers are, check out these sites for some ideas:

I'm very curious and eager to hear that Polk sound bar, the one that is supposed to deliver true surround sound from a singel speaker. Yamaha makes one too. Here is Yamaha's:

I'm not advocating it, just very curious as to how it sounds. If it did truly sound good, and it became affordable, for me and for a lot of people this would be the way to go.

That particular model has 40 individual speakers plus 2 woofers, Sounds very impressive.

Its important that all speakers are voiced matched if you cant match the surrounds at least match the front 3. Same brand, Same series, Same tweeter.

Very true if you want a seamless soundstage as audio and action move across your screen. Nice to match surrounds too, but much less important.

My old system is pieced together, some good speakers, i have large Pioneer 12" Floor speakers and Sony Floor speakers with dual 12" speakers. They seriously cranked, more bass than you could imagine, but they weren't that good when playing movies.

But for music they were top notch, i now prefer little surround cubes as i watch movies the most now.

Long story short, sound matching is key. I came around when a buddies $200 HTiB sounded twice as good as mine when it came to movies and I literally had 3 times as much as him into my stereo.
