Sup Guys, I have been trying to set up the settings for this tv today while watching football and movies to get it just right. I was wondering what settings for thos who have this tv have it set at so i can compare???. Incase you need to know i have the Comcast HD box connected with component cables (they didn't have the hdmi box at the time). If there is a website with settings posted i would also appreciate that aswell, Thanks.

I have the 42" version of that Sharp. My setup is a SA8300 HD DVR using the HDMI output. My SA8300 is setup to output every mode it is capable of so that the TV detects and stretches all images to full screen and switches to the proper mode 480i to 1080i.

For normal TV viewing I use these settings.

Picture Menu
OPC Off
Backlight -7
Contrast +20
Brightness -20
Color 0
Tint 0
Sharpness -4

Advanced Menu
Color Temp Medium
Black on
Film Mode off

I lower the color a little more on some stations. I use the User AV Mode on all my inputs and each mode has slightly different settings except for the backlight intensity which I keep low.

I really dont like to post other forums, it is usually not appreciated but if you google the phrase "official sharp aquos thread" I think you will find something usefull.

I also have this set... and Im wondering how your brightness is so low! I think this set has good blacks and I found that detail was lost is the dark scenes with the brightness too low. Hmmm...?? I use the SA 3250 with component. And YES, component is a great way to go, very under-rated quality, IMO.

The avsforum has a thread on this Sharp series ( 42, 46, & 52 ) regarding settings but like many of their threads it gets out of control with a zillion posts and often gets off topic really quick.

Just for the record I have been using the following settings some of which are based on someone elses actual calibration using a DVE disc:

Backlight = -2
Contrast = +30
Brightness = +5
Color = -2
Tint = 0
Sharpness = STD

Black Level = OFF
Noise Reduction = OFF
Color Temp = Mid-High ( my preferece, I like cooler whites )

Play around with it, you'll spend weeks screwing around until you get it dialed in just to your liking.

Thanks for the replies guys, I know about avsforum and the Sharp thread aswell, very helpful but alot of opinions aswell lol. I'm still trying to tweak the settings, i'll have to see what you guys have and go from there.

I'm also seeing Motion Blur when watching HD, Any ideas as to what i should do about a setting or something to correct this???
