i just bought my Sony Bravia 40" KDL-40S2010 LCD about 3 weeks ago, and i've been noticing red scrolling bars that appear to be some sort of distortion or interference. it's almost like a ghost or something, like the tv isn't getting a good connection.

i am currently hooked up via Monster component, but i am in the process of getting Monster HDMI cables to hook it up and a Monster power supply to help filter the cable/power. will this solve my problem?

No way to know for sure. Get back to us when you try the HDMI cabling.

does that sound like a common problem, though? My tv wouldn't be defective or anything, would it?

That's why it's important to test another HD connection. Is this using your cable/satellite connection or a DVD player connection or both?

the only connections i have hooked up to it are My xbox 360 (component), DVD (component), and cable box (component). It seems to do it with all of them. i'd like to say moreso with the cable box, but i have seen it do it with all 3 connections. like i said, i'm in the process of getting the DVD hooked up via HDMI, it is also an upconverting DVD player.

Do the same test with your cable box connecting via HDMI as well just to see if there's a difference.
