I just got a Sony KDS55A2000, Tv the other day. Love it so far.

I got this TV because my other TV (Hitachi 51S500) went out. I was able to put my center speaker right on top of that TV. It was wide enough on top, to do that.

Now I have the new Sony MUCH THINNER set on top of set. Is there a stand or something I could use , to place my center speaker over the TV still ?

I'm using an Onkyo Home theater in a box system. The dimensions for my center channel speaker are as follows :

17 inches Wide

7 1/2 inches Deep

&

6 1/4 inches High

Any suggestions ?

I'm sure they are. uh, pretty sure?
Edit: According to the description
Legs extend from 3 1/2" to 4 1/2"
Legs can be placed anywhere from 9 1/2" to 14 1/2" from the front of the shelf.
Now they also caution that this shelf is designed for use with CRT RPTVs and the thinner LCD or DLP sets it will not work. I'd consider making something or put a shelf up for the speaker.

Back in the old days, we (overzelous, but it worked) audiophiles used to bolt our speakers to the speaker stands (which themselves were on spikes, making a good "mechanical connection" to the floor). This helped the detail a little, and tightened up the bass A LOT.

So, ideally you want your speaker on a solid, rigid surface.

And, ideally, you don't want the vibrations from a speaker transferring to the video display device (yeah, the TV). It won't help picture quality, or television longevity.

In the real world, I don't know that your lightweight HTIB speaker will be transferring that much vibration to the television, nor will the fact that it is not rigidly tied to... anything... make much difference. The shelf, therefore, looks like a reasonable short-term solution. I would suggest that if you upgrade to a $1500 - $2000 sound system you would not be satisfied (or confident) with a 15 lb center channel speaker on top of your nice quality rear-projection TV - for its sake or the sake of optimum sound
.

Unfortunately I don't have a flat panel. But I did go into Radio Shack to look at what they had. They had an Omni Mount stand. It says that it will work for LCD's & DLP's...........

This might be what I'm looking for. I just wish they had it in black, for the price.
