My potential setup to jump into the 21st century:

I just bought a Panasonic TC-32LE60.

To reach its potential I am researching my current options.
I live 30 miles from my local stations and they are all located within a few degrees of each other. There is no obstructions to my current dish. I have a field across the road in front of my house. The nearest tree in front of the potential dish/OTA antenna is about 500-600 feet away. I was planning on getting the 3 LNB dish and H20. I also was considering the Winegard SS-2000 for my OTA locals because I cannot get HD locals from D* at this time.

Is there any benefit to me by acquiring the AT9 dish right now? I know that in the future, having the newer 5LNB dish could allow me to get my locals through D*, but I was concerned about operational characteristics.

Also, is there any hints on my OTA antenna placement to make the initial pain of trial and error any easier?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, gurus! :hithere:

I think I would go ahead and get the AT-9 if I was in your situation, just because it will prevent another change in the not to distant future.

As for theh OTA antanna, general rule, get an outdoor one, place it as high as you can reasonably go, and depending on your proxcimity to other cities I would suggest a rotor as well, this way you can move the antenna (If needed) with out any trouble. Not all your digital signals will come in in the exact direction you place it, normally if all towers are in the same place, but there are time when you need to adjust it some....
