Pretty new to Directv and wondering if it is possible to block The Cartoon Channel only at nights since it basically turns itself into Adult cartoons. Unfortunatly they dont add ratings to these cartoons. Id hate to block the channel 24/7 but I dont want my 7yo watching the junk they throw out in the PM so if there is no other way I'll trash it. your 7 year old is up at 11 at night? I had to be in bed by 9 when I was 7! There is usually a full screen stating that the cartoons of for Adults and the ratings are huge when I watch Adult Swim. Its always been a general rule in my parents house not to let the kids have the remote and watch TV alone, especially late night TV.

I doubt there is a scheduled block for channel option, but maybe you just need to sit down with your child and let them know not to watch the channel at a certain time. Explain to them why they are not allowed to watch the channel, and let them know they are not in trouble, and that you trust them. Kids listen as long as you explain why they can't do something.

I live in AZ. Its 9 here. Maybe even 8 when it switches over. I dont find that stuff entertaining so Im not really sure. Its summer break so he can stay up till 930ish maybe even 10. The biggest problem is he uses the Directv channel (kids mix) to see whats on and that brings up Adult swim if its after that time.

I know you can delete the channel, but that is not what you want. also I know you can set certian times that the receiver can be watched, but I don't know if it works for individual channel...

Kid goes back to school in 2 weeks so Im just gonna lock it until then. I bought hinm a new xbox game so hes pretty into that right now not to mention the 50 DVD's he owns:P. Once hes back in school he wont be up late enuf so I'll unlock. Still wish the channel at a certain time lock existed tho. Seems like it would be easy to create. The biggest thing that bothers me is that it shows up on the Kids Mix channel and for us down in AZ it switches over a little too early.

On a side note wouldnt you think that Adult Swim would put ratings on their shows? I thought that was reg now.

did you consider using the V-chip?

I thought TV ratings were built into the signal, even if TV-13 doesn't appear on screen.

I thought that the ratings were built into the show and that the Cartoon Network had to provide those ratings so the could be blocked out by rating.. Y7 TV13, etc....never seen a show that DIDN"T have those....as far as blocking a specific channel at at certain time, I don't know about that. I DO know that the newest D* receivers do have the ability to block all shows from a certain time....or can block all unrated shows/movies. That might be something to try....I might consider writing in to Cartoon Network about this, and maybe D* too....that is if they don't read these forums....

Idaho_Author has it right I believe for ALL the boxes. Why not at 7:00 or 8:00 put a lock on the ratings. You can also edit that channel out of the line-up. It may take 5 min. more like 2 min. a day but well worth it.

I do see what you are saying as far as doing what you are asking about. That would be a great idea.

Tried that. I havent checked all the shows but I know that the show that was on was called Morel Orel or Orel Morel and it showed "No Rating".
