Best of both worlds?

Here's a question I have? I'm in the Hartford market and get two Mpeg2 HD Locals (FOX and NBC) through waivers. D* now offers two Mpeg4 Locals (CBS and NBC). If I upgrade to the AT9 can I still get FOX through waivers since D* doesn't offer it? I'm hoping the size of the AT9 will help with rain fade as most say it helps. Also, hopefully the HD RSN Spot Beam will come my way when it's activated. Right now I'd rather have FOXHD over CBSHD if I had to choose for baseball and football but hopefully I can get them both.

If you keep your current receiver, which will only cost you $5 per month, you could watch FOX on it and the others on the new receiver. I don't know if your new receiver will also pick up your current waver channels, but it may.

Also your current receiver could be used for PIP.

You may need to run another coax, though.

That's what I'm hoping for. I just don't want to lose FOX through DNS. If I upgrade and D*doesn't mess with FOX DNS I'll almost be all set. If only I could get ABC from OTA I'd be one happy camper.

I had a waiver for Fox HD (receive the LA station). I now get Fox HD through via the H20 (over the AT9 dish), and I still get the Fox LA feed.

My guess is that they do not go through these things very often.

I hope so, the H20's are coming on thursday. If only D* provided all CT locals in HD I wouldn't have an issue. But at least it is progress.

I don't think it really matters if they carry locals in high def or not, since the programming in high def is far and few.... I use a antenna and not really impressed except sports....

Just about everything is high def on local channels now, except soap operas.

Now, where you live... if they choose not to broadcast them, that's an issue with your local stations.

There are only a few stragglers left not in HD, such as The Apprentice and a few others. But probably 90 percent is HD now.

So, not sure why you think it's "far and few"... that isn't the case.
