Can you use the HR10-250 DVR with the 5 lnb dish? I would gladly swap the dishes, but there is no DVR yet. I'm not interested in getting OTA, but I would like to recieve the HD RSN's when they become available. Does anyone know if this would work. We would die without our Tivo, especially my wife!!

"HD RSN's"? I missed that rumour, I know D* carries a couple of games a week on 94/95, but I was not aware there were any plans to take all the RSn's to HD.

No, you will need the H20 or wait for the new mpeg4 DVR.

To answer your first question,
YES you can use your HR-10-250 with the 5 LNB dish just fine, however you will not get any of the MPEG4 programming, such as the new HD RSN's that are being talked about

Here is the reply from D*. Hope someone is watching the Giants in HD. Those of us who are still waiting for the MPEG 4 HD DVR will wait and wait, and wait.

Thank you for writing. Select programming from FSN Bay Area is now available on channels 96 and 97. You will need the MPEG-4 capable equipment to receive the signal for those stations. We can upgrade your DIRECTV system with the right equipment to receive the new HD channels. To learn more please call us at 800-531-5000, a customer service representative will be happy to assist you.

Thanks again for writing.

Sincerely,

Aaron

That's seems to be the $64,000 question at this time. I wish D* would provide this info. I don't see how we could though. I'm in Michigan and would receive FSN Det HD on channels 96. Were would the Yes network be slotted? Too many unanswered questions.

I think YES is kinda the "National " channel on what 95 is it.
Speculation has other RSN's on 96-97, so far only the local RSN.
Doug,
Are you getting FSN-D in HD now, I'm on the Ohio boarder, pay extra for the FSN-D even though I think I would be in the FSN-D spot beam, I'm closer to you than FSN-Oh.
I need to know if I will get the FSN - D in HD before I will do anything.

I have searched this board, and this appears to be the best place to ask this question: If I have followed this thread correctly, I understand that I will not be able to get my RSN in HD along with other HD programming (local aside) if I have an H-10 receiver. However, I am also told by D* that I will be able to receive it. I am destined to believe what I see here before that of the CSR. Do I need to updgrade to an H-20 contrary to what D* is telling me?

Basically, with the H-10 you can get the HD channels and all other programming that are using MPEG2 encrtption, So you will not get the RSN's and local (mpeg4 ) without the new MPEG4 equipment.

MPEG4 equipment include H-20 and soon HR20-700, thats it, thats the list.
