Strange problems with HD-250 and HD Channels

This is really pissing me off now. I have two HD receivers, a Samsung 160 and a HD-250. I have two tuners on the HD-250. On the HD-250, I was watching "The Longest Yard" on Showtime HD tonight. I watched it almost all the way to the end and then it just went out and said, "For ordering info call cust. serv. X721." On the other tuner I was watching the ESPN HD broadcast of the Astros-Cardinals game. There was no problem on that tuner.

So then I tried to change channels to any of the other HD channels on D*. Nothing came in...all had various errors like the X721 or searching for signal. I could switch channels to OTA programming or Standard channels.

Then it gets even better...So I flipped back to the ESPN HD channel on my one tuner. I could not switch to other HD channels without the same error. So I switched one tuner to standard TV and then on the ESPN HD channel I could switch it back over to Showtime no error, no problems.

What the heck is going on? At the same time I had my wife check my Samsung receiver and there was no problem. I checked my signal strength and everything was cool. I was basically in a loop where I could not watch two D*TV HD channels on seperate tuners. Has anyone else had this problem.

I reset the system and everything went back to normal. I had this problem about 3 months ago and called D*TV and they told me to do a complete reload of the HD-250, erase everything. Which I did. Now I'm having the same problems again. I'm pissed. Because when I schedule recordings I may miss something because of this problem. Was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and what a good course of action would be.

Thanks.

Call D* back and tell them this problem is continuing to happen and your missing your programming. Tell them you've already been down the isolation route.
See if they will send you out a new one.

FYI, I just read that there is an update coming out for that unit, maybe that will help your situation.

20 minutes after rebooting and posting this message, it's back to doing the same thing but now with a twist...

In the past I would hit the Live TV button to switch between tuners...Now when I hit the Live TV button it brings up the Guide. I can hit the Info button and arrow down between the tuners, but that is annoying.

My issue is that this is my 2nd 250 from D* after I had a unit go out with the HDMI problem. The last time, they made me sign another year committment before they would RMA the defective unit. I'm not sure I really want to keep signing these agreements and getting locked into shitty equipment. It's a nice way to retain customers, have faulty equipment and then repair them by making your customers sign committments.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the club.I'm on my 3rd they claim their faulty. After the second screwed up I called customer retention and ended up with $95.00 credit.I have had 3 techs out the last one tested all of my lines with some volt meter or something and everything came back okay.He told me to ask for the dvr15 or whatever the directv brand dvr is.I'll just wait on the software update.

Well at least I'm not the only one then. So if D* replaced them did you have to sign a new programming committment?

That's BS man...Would you sign a 1 year committment to the cable company if you cable was having problems? No, you would expect them to treat you like a loyal customer and come out and fix it.

I think tomorrow night I will be making a phone call to D* and if I get some dumb answer, then I'm going to customer retention and telling them to stick the Football, Baseball and College Football packages that I subscribe to off my account. I'll report back what kind of answer I get.
