I am looking to buy my first big screen tv and have it narrowed down
to the soon to be released Sony KDF-46E2000 or Samsung HL-S666W. I know they both use different types of technology and was wondering what others think of these two brands. Is one better than
the other? Is there something else I should look at? I want to stay with rear projection because of pricing and 46" is about as large as I want to go.

Thanks in advance!!

Not many of us have the opportunity or time to sit, for an extended
period of time, in front of a variety of TV's to really get an understanding of how each of these technologies effects our eyes and our minds. When we go to the store we are impressed with the images based on what source is being displayed at the time. It's really not fair. I recommend that one should sit for at least 15 minutes at the appropriate distance (IE: at least 3 times the screen size) and notice how you "feel" about the images you have seen. some of us are affected in different ways and it is (in my opinion) more important than understanding the differences in the technology. Because we will be most likely spending a lot of time sitting in front of the thing it should be enjoyable.
At the end of the day there are only opinions on which is better.

I was considering the Samsung HL-S4666W and the Sony KDF-E42A10. I will mainly be gaming on it. I kept reading bad things about the Samsung DLPs with lag. So I believe im gonna go with the Sony. Something to think about if you play games on older consoles(480i/p).

Iíve purchase HLS-4666 and very happy with it. I play sports games with my PS2 and have not experienced any lag time.
