I know they have only two speakers. But I thought all HDTVs were required to have 5.1 sound.

Does it have some simulated surround sound, or do you get the 5.1 through the coaxial out? Or do you just except the dolby digital 2.0 It has?

thanks,
kenny

If its anything like the 960 as far as that goes it has an effect called TruSurround that simulates surround, as long as something called simulated that simulates stereo on mono sources. The tv also has optical output for those hdtv channels as long as regular stereo output. The sound doesn't sound that bad either.

If you use an HDMI to the tv (or the built-in HD tuner) and the optical out to a 5.1 amplifier you will get 5.1 sound for those programmes with 5.1 soundtracks. In other words you need a 5.1 amplifier (and all the speakers of course!).
