Looking for a good HDTV to replace my current TV.

I've been lurking around the boards reading around.

Im looking for a cheap HDTV to replace my totally awsome 1994 RCA Home Theater, 36 inches, wood cabitent and weighs enough to kill someone if it fell over. The picture quality is not very good, and my XBOX 360 is probably crying itself so sleep being hooked up to its crappy S-video imput. Its a great TV consdiering I got it for free, and even If I paid for it It'd be worth it, but its getting old.

I'm wondering if I should replace it now, or wait for HDTV prices to come down. Does anyone know what a good cheap replacement 720P TV would cost? I can only spend around 350-400 dollars.

I've seen some from White Westhinghouse and Samsung, but was wondering if you guys have a better idea of some better sets.

I hope you forgot a zero or you may be waiting a while. Depending what size you are looking at, CRT DV will probably be your only option, and that will be fairly limited as well. You can sniff around the local BB and CC's to look for discontinued and or floor models that you can still get a warranty on. My local CC had a decent 30'' floor model onsale for around $400 and with HDMI (not that I was looking). As these CRT's are kinda thinning out, this may be to your advantage. Also, the Phillips Outlet store has a 26'' listed for $300 and a 30'' for around $400 (With Free Shipping). These are refurbished and only come with a 90 day warranty I think. I heard both good and bad reviews on these sets, but for a HD ready (ATSC tuner not built in) tv with HDMI, thats not bad any way you look at it IMO. Good luck.
