Why No SNY HD and WNET HD Fed UP

I am paying extra money for additional HD programming. I am not getting two HD stations SNY (NY Mets) and WNET ch 13 in HD. Cablevison has both in HD for no additional charge. They should break DTVs monopoly on Sunday Football ticket and see how many people would pull the plug. What happened to all the new Sats they launched ? a bunch of hype.

The new sats were for mpeg4 local channels.

WNET's HD offerings are mostly documentaries that appear on Discovery HD anyway. But they had a great Paul McCartney special in HD that I thoroughly enjoyed.

SNY is the one that gets me big time. At least give a game-day feed on one of the RSN HD channels. I'm probably going to be dumping Comcast for D* (I got a permanent deal I probably can't refuse), but Comcast doesn't have Mets in HD either.

Who cares about NY programming.

DirecTV will work on programming for the masses before locals.

Everyone in the nation's largest market?

(They're going to carry NESN HD for Boston, which is much smaller.)

I have never seen any plans for NESN HD. Where do you get your information?

I seriously doubt that statement.

Someone posted it on AVS.

I don't know how true it is, but then again, I don't live in Boston so I haven't been following the thread.

Interesting, Masses before locals ?

Then why are they getting all the local HD channels up before any more National HD ?

Although anyone at BB is not a source I would count on. I read the rest of the thread. There may be something in the works. D may be looking to throw us a bone. E is kicking their butts right now in the HD dept. Throwing some HD sports our way may take some of the pressure off. It was sports that really built D, and I would expect that that may be the road they take first. That is after they finish a good portion of the HD local roll out. That being said: I ain't holding my breath :D

Agreed ....
It is sports that makes D* what it is today, without the ST and potentially the rest of the HD sports (when it gets here, FSN's ect.)
D* would be ...... well......... DISH

Jimbo, I'll take ur comment a tad further. SPORTS is what makes HD what it is today.

HD was meant for Sports. Everything else just looks like a DVD anyway.

When you can see the beads of sweat of Carson Palmers chin, u realize... this is what god invented HD for!!!

:yippee:

1st time posting but I've been reading this forum for the last two months and I have to agree, sports is what HD is all about. Your gf/wife doesnt really care if she watches Lost in HD but sports junkies, once they watch football on HD will never be the same.

Because without the local broadcasts of national network channels (meaning NBC, FOX, ABC, and CBS) nobody would subscribe (or continue to subscribe) to DirecTV. Then, at best, DirecTV should only offer sports and international programming--that is their advantage over the competition in suburban markets.

They are working on pleasing the poeple that want local over the poeple that want National programming added, which is fine, I don't care which way they do it.

I get my locals OTA , no problem, Lots of people would perfer more HD National programming ....which also is fine.

What they are essetually doing has nothing to do with any of us.
They are getting the locals up so they can be on even ground with Cable companies, (although they may still have a ways to go, once that is done)

I am happy with my HD channels ....for now and get my locals.

Patience, and we will get alot more of both programming.
This stuff doesn't happen over night.
We are all in the very infant stage of what HD will become.

Which by the way, has nothing to do with the original post :
