New to HD, just bought a TV and I have a few questions.

I'm a proud owner of two Samsung HL-S4266W's. One for upstairs one for down. When I run the Xbox360 on them they look amazing, and I just ordered Dish to fix my HD crave (my cable provider doesn't have HD, and only broadcast a few channels in digital).

We bought a Samsung Progressive-Scan DVD Player with HD Upconversion and I'm kinda let down by it. It's feeding into the tv via HDMI yet most of the movies still look awful. Is this normal? I see artifacts and blotching all over the screen with some DVD's (store bought). But then some movies (anything from Pixar really) look fantastic, is it just the quality the movies were streamed on, or is it something with my drive?

We also bought one of the new LG DVDrecorder/VHS/ up conversion drives (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7726874&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat83900050016&id=1140391964194)
Is there anyway to feed my new Dish network thru that in order to record? I understand I can't record HD, but I'd still like to be able to record some of the SD shows, while viewing my HD channels... Looking at it, it looks like I need to switch connections when ever I want to record...

Thanks a bunch guys.

DVD will look ok on it, upconversion is kind of a waste of time. It really willnot look any better than 480p DVD. I has a Samsung DVD player and took it back. I found the PQ to be not that good. I bought the Sony and it had much better PQ than the Samsung. I personally think Sony makes the best DVD player. I hear Oppo makes a real good one as well.
