I've had both hooke dup and can't notice a difference on my SXRD TV. I have Monster Component cables and tried those -vs- my HDMI and both look great. I'm not sure if it's worth it for my to fork out another $150 for another HDMI cable. Anybody else feel one way or another?

I don't care about the sound through HDMI since I run digital audio from my Direct TV HD receiver to my receiver.

Well, supposedly, HDMI (or DVI) has better PQ than component. However, I'd avoid spending $150 or so for Monster cables. Since it's digital, any old cable will do. Either the signal is there or it's not there, unlike the old analog days. You can get decent-quality HDMI cables for $30 or less, and paying Monster a premium for marketing, packaging, oxygen-deprived copper, whatever, just aren't needed. If the 1's and 0's get there, that's all you'll need.

Well, you dont need to spend a great deal on cables. You can get an HDMI cable off ebay for around $10. Dont believe the cable hype. Monster is lying to you to make money. Expensive cables are a HUGE ripoff. Component should be almost as good as HDMI, I have noticed on my TV that HDMI looks a little better. Not a tremendous amount, but a little.

Monster cables are great only if ur going a long distance. It it's the standard 5 foot to 8 feet, a regular hdmi does fine and just as well.

The only thing Monster cables do that I notice is speaker wire... I do notice a much better sound, but again... that's a much longer distance.

As far as tv difference, I mean... it is a little better with HDMI, but I hardly notice it. I happen to have an HDMI A/V receiver, so I did it for the sound.

Monster Cable speaker wire is no better than the 14 gauge wire you get at Home Depot. 14 gauge is 14 gauge. Gauge is gauge. Monster has no mystical powers over transmission line characteristics. With Monster you get the "placebo" effect. You figure you spent $80 for a roll of speaker wire so IT HAS TO SOUND BETTER or you will feel like an idiot that you could have spent $9 on a roll of 14 gauge wire. Same goes with Monster component, S-Video, HDMI, etc. I always like the one about cable break in. Another good one is poeple buying cable cookers to accelerate their cable break in. What a crock. I Googled cable cookers and this one outfit is selling one for like $1000. I laughed so hard I almost puked. What is next DVD rewinders. I know, I will make a DVD rewinder and throw in some techno babble about spinning your DVD in the revers direction to stabilize the poly carbonate substrate layer that can lead to picture degradation. I think that is a riot.

I never said monster speaker wire was better than 14 g. Monster is 14g, monster is a brand.

Glad u wasted the time to rip it.
