That's what I been posting for months. If the PS3 is a success it will go a long way in pushing the blu-ray.....but hd-dvd fans think first is best we'll have to wait and see.

HD-DVD and DVD on the same disc (flip side) which should give HD-DVD a big advantage. They're talking about usb connections on a stand alone box over at (link) http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/events/e32006/articles/20060507-hddvdexplained.htm
HD DVD is cheaper for manufacturers to upgrade their facilities to produce HD DVD discs and there are lower licensing fees associated with HD DVD interactivity, both key cost advantages. Ultimately, all of these advantages will lead to lower prices for consumers who choose HD DVD. They (HD DVD spoke person) plan to make this an affordable option for Xbox 360 owners.

Sony has announced the price of the PS3 at E3.

The one with HDMI/HDCP that can be used as a Bluray player is $600

The stripped version without HDMI or WiFi is $500.

It seems that Sony is getting trashed by their biggest fans at http://digg.com/gaming/PS3_price_announced.#c1659919

They seem to be missing the point. It's not competing with MS but toshiba also.MS will offer a stand alone hddvd for an unannounced price. The 360 was and is priced high,so I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Actually, perhaps Sony has forgotten that they are supposed to be competing with Nintendo and MS, not Toshiba, and this is what is annoying their fans...

Good point. Just think if Sony had put all that time and effort into the P3 without Blu-Ray.
