Out of those two, Def techs, I jus found out Infinity was still in buisness. haha. I love BA we used to sell them. The vr series kicks ass ... Love the neo dymium magnet tweeter. I would say as well, to shop around unless you are a BB cult member. There is so much out there . Focal makes a great speaker, Just heard the JBL studio L which I am going to be buying , Focal I would say, sounds similar to the Boston VR series, yet built better, hand crafted etc., Jbl studio L souds like a cross between a VR series Boston and a Klipsh reference series only it has smoother highs and is not ear fatuging. :) :)

i would love to buy my speakers from b.b. because my girl works there. i got my sxrd for $1700 and other items for less then half of the regular price. so with my girls discount i think i can get some def techs for less then the betas. im not a big fan of jbl. i dont like there northridge series.

i wouldnt call b.b. speakers crap. they carry these brands but not all the brands at every b.b. with a magnolia in them. some people might consider magnolia seperate from b.b. but its not. we get an outstanding discount at the magnolia section.

I know I know. the magnolia has the name name brands that Tweeter did 4 years ago, which believe me, is not bad at all. God I miss Sonus Faber and Vienna. The beethoven's from Vienna acoustics in the cherry wood cabinet were awsome! :) :) Yes The Magnolia side has good quality models but BB itself has the low end of the manufactors .

I purchased my display from Magnolia for a great price, since they were not local to me. (I trucked it home). I bought my speakers from them previously, before I moved.
They told me I could not 'cross' to BB on the price, or transaction. Unless my local BB was willing to match them, like any other independent retailer.
This was just over year ago, before Magnolias starting showing up inside BBs all over the country. Just curious if this still the case.

i decided to give def tech a good listen to but didnt come away to impressed. so i decided to give the martin logans ( the non static ones ) another good listen to. this time we were able to listen to movies that have good sound tracks and fight scenes. the clearity difference compared to the def techs was obvious. especialy as the volume got higher. the last time i listened to the martin logans i dont think the employee had it setup right because the sound compared to the last time i heard those speakers was night and day. now if only they were in stock. the best part is i can get these speakers for less then the infinity betas that i was leaning more toward.

I thought they sounded pretty good, but not as good as the Paradigm setup I heard immediately after...(not at Magnolia). But for most HT addicts, I certainly would give Def Techs a spin.
I think spending the time listening to a lot of systems is essential. And quite enjoyable. Bring your fav movies/music with you.

i did get to listen to alot of different movies and music yesterday. i watched hero, master and commander, and a few other movies. i came away feeling the martin logans did a better job with all movies we watched. i liked the def techs at first but then we switched right over to the martin logans and suddenly i noticed the difference. thats why i wasnt impressed to much. after i decided to get the martin logans the sales guy asked if i wanted to listen to the vienna setup. i though to myself no way if i listen to those speakers and like them i will spend about what i am going to pay for 3 fronts on one vienna. unfortunetly since i decided to get the logans i forgot all about the boston acoustics.

Can you still get upgrades by trading up within a year and only pay the difference? I know many retailers would do that with speakers, including the 'salons'.
I bought some good sounding KEFs back in the 70's, and went back 2 weeks later to upgrade to the next model up. Could not get the better sounding ones (104.2's) out of my head. Back in my audiophile-only 2 channel days. :)

Recently read a very good review of a Mirage Omnisat v2 system in HT mag . Depending on whether you went with 5.1 or 7.1, price (MSRP) would range from about $2700 to $3200 for the system.

2 ch sound apparently is excellent too. I would give those a listen too if it were me.

Give me a few days, I can narrow down the display I like to watch for the money. But give me a couple of months to listen to all the speakers I would like to hear!

b.b. will not be selling martin logan much longer and all the stores in my area are sold out. so i took another listen to the def techs and decided to go with them since i couldnt get the logans. i paid $1200 for this.
