Does anyone know the best way to find out when a specific channel will be available in HD? In this case CBS... I get all my locals perfect except CBS, and I cant seem to find any information when CBS will be available in HD for Directv... Comcast and Time Warner both have it available, but the satellite co's do not..

I am about 40 miles from you (LK Placid). I have the 5LNB dish and H20 STB. I pickup the Tampa Locals including Ch 10 (CBS), 13 (Fox), 28 (ABC) and 8 (NBC) over the sat in HD. 11 (CBS) In Ft Myers is not available on sat but you should be able to get it with a cheap inside antenna. You could probable get all of them in hd along with 44 (UPS) with a decent outside antenna.

I am in Naples and am having the same trouble. WINK was supposed to HD over the air in January but I have not heard a word. Somebody told me in comes in on channel 11 which is a VHF channel so you need some adapter.

I am looking for help also so when you find out let me know.

I am in Sarasota. WINK is actually closer to us than WTSP - CBS out of Tampa. I have difficulty with OTA HD on WTSP and have been looking forward to WINK offering the HD OTA signal. The following is from the WINK website and is consistent with an email I received in response to an inquiry to their engineering department a couple of months ago.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted Fort Myers Broadcasting Company our DTV construction permit for WINK-DT on October 29, 2004. We are currently in the process of constructing our digital transmission facility.

The DTV Antenna is in place on our transmission tower and the transmitter is ready to ship from the manufacturer. We are now constructing the expansion of the WINK-TV Transmitter Building, which is needed to house the new DTV transmitter and equipment.

It will take several months before the building will be completed and the new DTV equipment installed. Once completed, WINK-TV will be broadcasting HDTV on digital channel 9. We will do our very best to expedite the delivery of CBS HDTV programming over-the-air.

WINK-TVís CBS HDTV programming is now available on Comcast Cable and Time Warner Cable. Please check with those service providers for details on receiving WINK-TVís CBS HDTV programming.
