What does a blown JVC bulb look like.

I am wondering if any of you that had you JVC bulb get dimmer (not all the way blown out) have looked at the bulb to see what it looked like.

Was the top of the buld covered with black spider web pattern?
Did the bottom of the buld start to bubble?

Did JVC ask you what the bulb looked like before providing a replacement?

My bulb inside the carrier has a part number HS110AR10-51 Made in Japan. Is this the same as the newer bulbs?

My TV is the 52G886

Yes. we've had 4 bulbs go bad in 8 months. Very upset with our sales person, and the TV, though it looks great with a new bulb.

Dang, and I thougth the Toshiba's were seeing a lot of bad press from preme lamp failures. I suspect the real truth is any projection set can and does see these failures depending upon set design and possible bad production run on lamp related components.

Kate, I sorry you are having so much trouble with your set.

mine looks different than spiderwebs;
The middle "bulb" appears to have shattered.
I think my wife or son pulled the plug or turned off the power to reset the cable box, and the tv didn't shut down right.
i bought mine used and the "lamp" light came on during power on and shut down... otherwise it just went out. bulbs are now 70 with housing so no extra work, and once I found instructions online, it was easy to do, just remove the left speaker panel. I should have known, because the screw is weird... I am trying to find out what a jvc hd-ila looks like when the bulb is just old and run down, and stops working, does it still shatter? why does my family lie to me, they can just tell me they unplugged it, and wont' do it again...?

The glass tube inside the lamp breaks sometimes when the lamp goes, sometimes it doesn't break. It can happen while you are watching, that's why sometimes it goes with a loud pop. Unplugging it while it is running is not good for it, but it doesn't necessarily break the lamp.

Buy a good quality lamp, not one that someone says is "OEM-equivalent".
