I have a JVC HD-ILA model HD-61Z575. Well I was watching the olympics tonight and the TV just shut off. The Power LED and Lamp LED light are flashing simultaneously. Did my Bulb burn out or is there another problem. How do you know when it burns out? Is this what happens when the bulb burns out? Last night I was watching a movie and I thought it look very dim (all the night scenes were hard to see) The troubleshooting says the lamp was installed wrong or there is a malfunction. The tv is about a year old. I guess I watch it a lot. Should I take it to a shop or try ordering a new bulb and replacing it myself? Or should I take it in to a TV repair store? I'd hate to spend the $200 for a new lamp and it ends up not being the problem. Please help!!

I repair TVs,that being said unplug the unit for 10-15 min. the lamp is fired by a hi-voltage balast circuit that can fail. Now for the test when the lamp is bad the balest tries to fire the lamp with the HV to light it,
this firing is a "snap"sound .
Plug the set in if you know were the lamp door is that is were you want to listen have someone turn set on if you hear 3-4 snaps you have a bad lamp.
If not you need to call a tech to come out the lamp and balest or controle pcb are bad.hth
DON'T remove the back of the set.

I tried unplugging it and turning it back on and yeah I think I hear the snaps you're talking about. The tv powers on then there are the snaps and it jumps back into warning mode before there is ever a picture. So does that sound like its the bulb? If I take the bulb out will I be able to tell if it is burnt?
Thanks
