Need advice

I want to upgrade to a larger tv. I have viewing angle concerns so I need a direct view TV. I currently subscribe to Directv. My primary viewing consists of TBS, TNN, TLC, Discovery, National Geographic, Animal Planet, CNN, Court TV, Starz, etc. I currently have a 27" Panasonic flat screen. I am interested in the KV-34HS420 or the KD-34XS955. My question is while viewing channels that are not broadcasting in HD will the TV's I mentioned provide a good picture? It seems I read somewhere that these TV's do not provide a good digital picture. What can I expect with these TV's. Thanks for your help.

My experence has been that screen sizes 40" and smaller do not look bad at all, depending on the viewing distance. In order to see the "halo" artifacts that show up around letters, for example, you would need to sit very close to those sets. Even in the larger sets the PQ is not the problem of the TV so much as it is the source. Analog sources will look better than digital sources.
