Brand new to HD

not sure if this is the correct place for a question like this but I didn't see any other place yet so here goes...We just got our first HD tv, a Sony KDF-E50A10 and have DishHD with the 611 receiver(I think..non DVR).

My question is why are peoples skin tones and regular colors (like the radar on the weather chan is a yellow-brown instead of green) totally different from our non-HD tv's, but when I throw a dvd in everything looks ok. If I change settings to get a chan to match one of our non HD tv's, like the weather chan for instance, then it just throws the rest of the picture out even further.

Is this a problem with our HD receiver ? or am I missing something on the tv setup?

thanks

Check your connectins!I assume the sat. receiver is hooked-up via component cables. If they are crossed (red, green & blue) from receiver to tv.The connections have to be identical on both ends.

The television is known for its inaccurate color decoding. You'll need to tweak your settings... or purchase a set-up disk to calibrate your television. Do you have 811 receiver? Your television doesn't care for standard definition signals, it perfers HD signal.

Google HD set-up disk. It will list various retailer to purchase disk.

Sony is usually " on the money" out of he box with the need for minor corrections to adjust "to taste". Check your Component cable connections to your cable box they are color coded make sure they are on correct outputs and imputs...red to red etc RBG. unless it was purchased as "oot of box"item then someone may have played with settings but if it was new in box you should not have any problems especially if all other sources are good

I checked the plugs and it seems the red cable wasn't completely seated in the jack.

Pretty sure I have it all squared away, just found a home theater setup dvd which came with the extended service plan thingy that I got a circuit city...gonna give it a whirl and see how it improves the pic.

thanks to all for the help.
