DLP RPTV or LCD Wall Panel?

02-07-2006, 01:42 PM
I am looking to purchase a new HDTV for my DirectTV. I am trying to decide between hanging a Samsung 40" LCD wall panel or buying a DLP RPTV. My DLP concerns center around "artifacts", rainbows and the direct line of view (horizontal view is fine, but standing up distorts the view). My LCD concerns center around irreparable pixels, "Screen Door Effect" or pixelation. I know each technology has pros and cons for everyone, but everything I read so far tends to lean toward the DLP. I basically watch network programming and a lot of sports (NFL, College Hoops, etc.) with some DVD's mixed in. Am I too concerned with the "artifacts" and the rainbow effect for the DLP? How noticable is it? I just can't seem to make up my mind. The LCD looked really sharp in the store compared to the DLP set, but I guess the DLP outperforms the LCD in a lot of tests. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to get both sides from the LCD and DLP camps. If budget has already been addressed, just go by what you like when viewing them in stores.
