I have had h20 and 5 lnb just about 2 mos now and just recently have been getting 2 to 3 second delay between channel changes. It happens with all channels and sometimes i get color splashing in between. this happen to anyone else? I am in metro Boston.

overall I feel the H20 is slow when compared to other (non-HD) recievers. i experience a slight delay between channels (abotu 1-2 seconds) but it can be more if I'm going from HD to non-HD since the receiver's switching the resolution it's putting out.

i haven't experienced any color washes though.

I'm in Chicago.

Usama, just 1 or 2 seconds??!! Sometimes when I switch to ch 7 or 5 sometimes I wait 5 sec or more. I can hit the info button and see what the show's about before the picture locks in.

A lot of this is caused by the receiver figuring out what resolution to broadcast the picture at (1080i, 720p, 480p, or 480i). Notice the lights on the front of your receiver change whenever it changes formats. This is also when there is the most delay. Notice it is faster if you switch from lets say Comedy Central to TNT and slower if you switch from Comedy Central to HDNet.

The receiver automatically comes set with a Native video setting. This tells the receiver to figure out what video quality to broadcast the picture at based on the source. It you want to speed it up you can change the reciever setting to not be native and then you can manually set the output setting (ie. 1080i, 720p, 480p, or 480i). See your user guide as it explains this.

The receiver is slow however because my old samsung could figure out the picture switch in about 1/2 or 1/3 the time.

Wolf1, are you using a HDMI connection? I just switched from a componet connetcton to HDMI yesterday and in addition to the delay now I get the color splash too. And I don't see much difference in PQ with HDMI.

Ohh -- yeah I'm using Component cables so maybe our situation isn't exactly the same.

i'm going to restate my delay claim, 1-2 seconds might be too little, i'd say 2-3 seconds at least.

Yes I am using a belkin hdmi cable. Last night delay was more like 7 or 8 secs..seems to be getting worse. Thats wierd because i went from monster component to hdmi and noticed big difference in picture and audio. Picture was a little brighter also. Gweeto i am going to investigate that tonight.
