Samsung HLR4266W Issues

01-30-2006, 08:16 PM

I've had a Samsung 42" DLP set since September. I became annoyed recently by an audible humming noise coming from the cabinet.

A technician replaced the light engine on 1/27. All seemed fine until a 1" darkened vertical strip appeared on the extreme right side of the screen.

A second light engine was installed on 1/28. All seemed fine again until the set overheated and wouldn't turn back on.

A third light engine was installed today. All seems fine to this point, but I'm seeing poor display of gradients on the screen. Watching 24 in HDTV displays portions of the picture as almost cartoon-like.

Any suggestions as to the possible cause here? Does the new light engine require a break-in period? Or am I stuck with a lemon?

CorkyMuldoon I have the same cartoon effect especially in dark scenes. It looks artificial..hair and shadows are the worst...right?
I was wondering about this as well. Anybody?

There are a number of service menu adjustments the tech is supposed to check and if necessary recaliberate after installation of a new light engine. You should call him back and tell him to bring his service manual for your tv and follow the instruction in it.

That should fix your pic problems.
