DVD advice

Hello, another newbie here.
I've been on many forum sites and this was the one to join in, for sure. I have a Hit- 50VS810, love it! I'm sure I should upgrade from my old DVD and I've been told a progressive player would be fine with this set. True or false? Would anyone have info on the Sony-DVP-NC8OV or the Pan.- DVD- S29K. Great price on the Sony. Only $ 135 for 5 disc unit. Any advice is good.

If you current DVD player is not capable of a progressive output, and your TV is capable of displaying a 480p (progressive) signal, then you would positively see an improvement in watching DVD's from a DVD player with a progressive output. You would have to connect your DVD player to your TV over component cables. I do not think progressive works over S-video or composite cables.

Thanks for response. Hooked up with Comp. cable, very nice. the Sony-dvp-nc80v is a good choice for anyone looking for a multi-disc.
