Does anybody know what the native resolution of sonys two top crt models are? Can they display a true HDTV picture or would I have to get a 50 inch or higher plasma Tv to get a full HDTV picture.

They are CRT HDTVs with the ability to display standard definition 480i, enhanced definition 480p and high definition 1080i. They will accept 720p and 1080i HD signals and display them both in 1080i.

Yes RSawdey Thats what I meant. Is it 1280 X 768 I believe thats the HDTV standard or is it lower than that?

They're not fixed pixel displays so they don't have a single native resolution. These TV's don't display in 1280x720...they use Sony's mask technology.

I did say in my previous post that these TVs will display incoming HD signals in 1080i so it stands to reason that you would be looking at a 1920x1080 resolution for 16:9 HD video and 720x480 for SD video.

Thanks for the info borromini. I was just curious to know whether they displayed a full HD picture because I'm seriously thinking about buying one.
