I got mine from a local B&M shop (not big name) and they price matched, so I got it for $3200 + 4yr + delivery + tax = $3700.

Give us your feedback after you get a chance to 'break in' your new Sony's. Thanks in advance.

I had it delivered today, I have to wait till the 24th before Comcast cam hook me up with Digital and HD.

The Rose bowl looked good but there are some channels in the analog that look crappy and almost give me a headache.

Could be that I'm only 7 feet away and trying to focus on a non HD picture, but it's still pretty cool.

I'll let you know what a "novice" to HD has to say when it gets hooked up, meanwhile I might have to look for a HD antenea on EBay :)

I went a got a Samsung 850 DVD to hook up to it. My old Sony DVD was not a progressive scan but it has componant hook ups. I had bought some new cable off EBay but I could not wait, what the hell lets buy another toy.
It look's great so far with a couple of Pixar movies. My daughter wanted to have the pick of the first movie so Monsters Inc it was When the cable come I'll try the other one and see if there is a difference The HDMI cable is really nice and especially so since it came with the new DVD. I was suprised at how much thoses things can go for.
I must be getting used to the analog picture because it's not as bad as the first day I set it up

I'll clue you in when the HD gets deliverd from Comcast. Now it's slated for Friday the 13th, Might as well be April 1st knowing Comcast

The Comcast guy came within the first 15 min of the 4 hour appointment window that they gave me and it just got better after that.

After the initial half hour or so for the cable box to initiate the HD reception is awsume. This TV really rocks, I could not have made a better selection ( the 60" will not fit in my room). Comcast has gotten alot better concerning the wait time between changing channels, it's pretty quick.

I only wish that I could use the TV remote as the main one because it is so cool. I may try the cable card after awhile

A higher-end home theatre B&M in the Milwaukee area (Flanners) was going to sell the 50" to me last week for $2975, with 5 year warranty ($250), and delivery/tax for a total of $3490.

Best price I've found at a B&M (great, knowledgable staff too), but my fiancee' nixed the purchase... :( Have to wait until after our September wedding... damn!

I read somewhere on here that there's rumors of the MSRP dropping by $500 sometime at the end of January. Anyone else heard this or can shed any more light on this? Rumor or fact?

That's a fact, and has already gone into effect (or is supposed to have). Flanners, the place I had in my previous post, had the MSRP for the 50" at 3499, and then the sale price of $3190, and then talked them down to $2970. I asked the sales guy at first about the $500 price drop, and he said "it happened last week, and their current price is reflecting that price drop".

Oh well... back to my 32" JVC :(

Does the price drop represent a newer updated model coming... maybe with 1080p HDMI, or sans the elephant ears?
