Question about Dolby Digital

I have a Sony 5.1 receiver (with a Dolby Digital decoder) and I recently upgraded to HD with Directv. Sometimes when watching an HD program, the receiver says the program is in 3/2 dolby digital and is decoding, but sound only is coming from the two floor standing speakers, nothing from center speaker or surrounds. This only happens sometimes on specific shows or movies, and only on the HD channels. Because other shows and other channels that are in 3/2 dolby digital, like HD Discovery, output froms all speakers correctly. Do you think this is a receiver problem, a specific program problem or a Directv problem. Also, if I play any DVD in Dolby Digital, it plays and sounds awesome.

Digital TV can have either DD 5.1 or DD 2.0... it's not all surround.

I'll be most of this is happening on UHD correct? I too have noticed that every DD signal they put out only comes through the two mains. Normally DD 2.0 programs will kick in the Prologic or Neo modes, but not on this channel. I have to go in and tell my DirecTV receiver not to output DD just to get even Prologic to kick in on this particular channel.

I've noticed a few glitches on other channels, but they are very infrequent. Compared to UHD whitch has done this as long as I've had the HD package.

The receiver decodes either Dolby 5.1 or Dolby 2.0, I know that. My receiver calls it 2/0 for 2.0 and 3/2 for Dolby 5.1. It also lights up on the receiver which speakers, including the subwoofer, are active. I'm saying that when a program is in 3/2 (5.1) only two speakers are active. It has to be a glitch. It only happens, and only sometimes, on the Directv HD channels, like HDnet movies and Universal HD. Has to be a glitch. All other channels and DVDs decode great.
