Is the Sony KDFE55A20 a Bad TV? Prices are Really Dropping.

Hi, I wasn't trying to start anything. It was just that this TV (and the 60") is going so low that it is starting to make me think the television is a bad television. I know the SXRD is selling and is a good TV, but....I read somewhere that Sony was supposedly going to drop the SXRD set prices in January. Do the retailers know something the consumer doesn't? Thanks.

I own it and so far love it. I chose it over the 50inch A10 which I coveted for a real long time.

We just bought the 42" version (KDFE42A10) and love it. This TV was rated number 1 in Consumer Reports Last year, and is number 2 this year. I think the price drop is related to the age of the TV

Do you miss the extra HDMI port? I read it only has one. Thanks.

I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but did you have to do a lot of configuring? Was it good right out of the box? Thanks again.

I took mine right out of the box pluged in the cables from the old set, just an S-Cable and the Audio cables from the DVR unit and was in business in less than 5 minutes.

You do have to run an auto setup to set up channels, even if you are not using the cable or antenna inputs. It will nag you everytime you turn the TV on. It takes 20-50 minutes, according to the mannual. I ran mine while I was getting ready for work in the morning, so I never saw the actual time it took.

I bought the 50" sony A10 a few weeks ago and I have been extremely happy with it. I will admit that it was not "perfect" right out of the box. I played with a few of the settings and afer a few days of "burn in" time, the PQ is great now. MY DVD's and HD OTA channels are amazing and with a high end S-video cable, my dish SD channels look good enough. (you will never get great PQ of SD channels on a 50" RP). I got it at Best Buy for $2150 and I will be getting about $270 in rebates back in the next few weeks.
