First of all , Hello everyone! I'm new but I've been browsing around and the site looks great.....an abundance of information!!!!

I should have found this place earlier!!!!

In preparation for the Xbox 360....I purchased a HD about 4 months ago!!!! At least I thought..... I didn't and still dont know much about them!

I was led totally wrong buy this salesman!!! I wanted High Def but not with the 3000$ tag. So he steered me to a JVC 48" rear proj HD ready set. I payed about 1200$ for it! He told me that the features were top notch......got me all excited so I bit!!!!

At first it was okay....I mean I got the DVR box from Comcast and the High-DEf channels look so much better than the regulars.....I thought I was a part of this HD revolution. WRONG!!!!

Now that my 360 is about to hit the seen.....I've been doing some research......NO HDMI port!!!! I don't know if the 360 will support that but still I feel shorted anyway......*sighs*

To the point....I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what I got? Basically am I or am I not good to go? Do I have to spend more money on a new set to really enjoy my 360?

The manual says this TV supports 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i!!!!!

Any help is appreciated in advance!!!!!

Can you use component video?

The Xbox 360 does not have an HDMI or DVI output according to CNET.

Here's the best source of info. Only connects to HiDef displays via components.

I know that you can't use the HDMI on the 360 right now. But This caused me to notice that I don't have the connection on my TV. I will have to use the red , blue, and green, (component I think). I know this!

I'm just wondering do I have a true HDTV that will take full advantage of the 360! (with component cables in use)

The Model # is Av-48WP55

I really appreciate the help.

BTW.....I have searched the net for info on this TV. All I can seem to see are articles saying it's HD ready! What does that mean? Also I have no way of changing the setting in the TV menus.....you know like from 720p to 1080i!!! Does it like figure out the signal automatically or something?

Once again thanks!

'True' HDTV is viewed everyday through component cables with all kinds of cable and satellite receivers. The difference in picture quality is typically minor, to no diffference at all. I would suspect the same for the XBox. It's probably an economy move on MS's part, but I would not doubt at least half of XBox owners do not even have an HDTV.

"The difference in picture quality is typically minor, to no diffference at all. I would suspect the same for the XBox." from DALEB

Im taking you mean the use of HDMI vs Component?

If so .....I feel a little better. Still kinda mad b/c I was led to believe I was getting a cutting edge HD set. I guess you get what you pay for......

Oh thinking about it , I askesd the salesman" why is this HDTV so much cheaper than the rest?" He replied, "Oh just b/c of the size. Plasma is sleeker and sexier!"

I hope he did me right!!!!

Thanks to all!!!!

Main purpose of HDMI/DVI is to provide copy protection. Quality virtually identical to Component. Are you sure you don't have an HDMI or DVI port? It doesn't say anything in the datasheet, but the sister model has HDMI...

This is a CRT based RPTV, that's why it's so cheap. Interlaced, subject to phosphor burn, energy hungry & large & heavy. Progressive scan displays are prefered for Gaming & PC use.

If you just bought it, perhaps you can return it.
