Hi, I have the Sony 36" XBR TV, I looked at the back and only saw the DVI in slot, does it mean that there is no use for me to get a upconverter DVD player? Thanks

Hi, you can use an hdmi to dvi cable if you purchase an upscaling dvd player with an hdmi output. The Oppo dvd player uses strickly dvi so you can use straight dvi from the dvd player to the tv.

You can use an adapter as previously posted, but the real question is whether there is any true advantage to using these players on a 36" CRT that will convert the digital signal back to analog when displayed. My recommendation is you just stick with a progressive-scan DVD player.

Why would it convert the digital signal from the DVD back to analog when displayed on TV? My Sony XBR is a digital TV.
