Hello ,

I have Toshina 57H84 HDTV 57''. I bought it 2 years ago. the Tv native resolution is 1080i/540P. My Son tried to hook it up to his new Xbox360 gaming console that outputs 1080i HD signal. He noticed that the right edge of the pic is not showing. For example the word " LOADING" was showing " LOADIN" and the part where the G is was not showing. We tested the console on our HD projector with the same resolution and it displayed Fine, so i am thinking the problem with the TV.

What seems to be the problem here?
regards

I sure hope you get an answer to this, because I just purchased the same model for my plans in the future to be running a Playstion 3 on it. Other than the 360 problem, how do you like it so far? I don't have mine yet.

Good Luck!!!

By-the-way, you could try searching for an XBox 360 forum and post your problem there. I understnad the 360 has had many different problems so far.

I have had it for 2 years now and it is highly recommended, I never regreted buying and wished i had bought a different one, once you plug it to a hig definition source you'll see a crystal clear pic, however the problem i am having is not caused by the xbox360, because i tried it with my HD projector and it was fine, I was told that the projection TVs might need line tuning from time to time, that might be the reason, I'll be having the maintenace guys come to my house,,,

i'll keep you updated

asalg its not a major problem to fix your problem you would have to go into the Toshiba tv service menu and adjust the picture width and also center the picture while you are playing the xbox at 1080i or better a upconverting dvd @1080i playing a overscan image.

There are adjustment for 1080i that you can adjust the centering of your picture.

Send Michael Tlv a email: [email protected] he is a ISF expert on Toshiba Tv. He will know exactly on what adjustment is needed.

Thanks Yaamon for the help, I sent him an email.
hopefuly it is just centering problem, but the whole screen is showing a picture, but it seems like the picture is bigger than the screen. and the resizing menu is not avilable as it is a HD signal.

thanks again

You can test this by accessing the service menu by doing the following.

Press mute on the remote and then release and then press mute again.

While pressing mute on the remote press menu on the front of the tv.

If you do these steps correctly you should see a S on the top right of the screen.

Then release both buttons and then press menu again on the front of the tv and you should see the first data like Rcut this is for red color gun, then Gcut, Bcut etc.

Use the channel up and down to select the data and use the volume to change the values. So scroll down the menu by using Channel Up.

With a 1080i signal on that video input on look for these menu.

Michael quotes this on another board too, hope he does not mind. Please write down the data before you decide to change then as you can always use this as areference.

WID and HIT for sizing. HPOS for centering and VCEN for centering.

I have done this many of times on my Toshiba's tv and others. You should find that you may only need to change the data a 2 or 3 points.

Use exit to save and then power off the tv and then on.

This should work. :)

Ps: Every tv can be made to look better with proper calibration. This is what the ISF guys do is access the service menu and adjust grey scale for a more accurate color, make sure the tv overscan is set for the different inputs eg: 480i 1080i etc, centering of picture. etc.

:D Man you work fast. Iam glad that you were able to get it corrected.

I bought a service manual from Toshiba in 1998 and has been adjusting the mine and friends tv's through the service menu.

From my eye my greayscale looks perfect and now flesh tone on people is very natural at times. :)

A good disc to buy is DVE and then you can always play it on your Dvd player for a more accurate adjustments as it has all the test patterns you need. :)

Iif you dont feel comfortable adjusting then don't bother to venture in.

OK, I have another problem, do you why whenever I try to do the auto convergence I get ( auto convergence error ) and it doesn't converge? IN the manual it says when that happens simply try again. I tried so many time but it doesn't converge,,,,, have you come across a similar problem before?? I know i can converge manualy bt it is not as perfect as the auto conergence.

Sorry cant help you on that one as I never encountered that problem.

Try this once you get in the service menu once you see the S press 7 on the remote and see if it can access the convergence grid.

If you can let me know and I can tell you what numbers move the colors up and down and left and right and how to select the 3 color guns.

This was the way you could access many point on the screen over 40 point of adjustments on the older sets.

Hope this works for you.

I could get to the menu you are talking about where there are many squares. but what to do next?

just to let u know the picture is not bad, but not perfect,,i just don't know why the auto convergence is not working

That is great news that you can access the convergence menu as it will allow a more precise adjustments all over the screen.

1) You use the number 3 on the remote to select the color that you want to adjust. Red, Blue, and Green.

2) Once you select each color 2 moves the grid adjustment up and 8 moves the grid adjustment down.

3) To move the grid left use number 4 and right number 6.

4) Number 5 locks that color selection so that you can adjust.

5) Unlock the color and grid selection by 5 and then move it to the next gird that needs adjustment.

Then select a new color by pressing number 3 and then lock that selection and grid by pressing 5. Adjust up, down, left, and right if needed.

Hope I made sense. :) Good luck.

Oh and exit and then power off the tv to save the settings.

these values are not there in the 52hm95. I can adjust the H and V pos, but nothing for width or height in the service menu on my tv. I am getting anywhere from 3.5 to 5.5 %.
