Moving receiver

02-23-2016, 01:20 PM
Have two DISH accounts, home, and Northern Wis. Selling the northern place, but buying another. My wife was told (the way she explained it to me) that if we just get another receiver, and add it at home account, that we could take that receiver north, hook it up, set to the same satellites(?) as home, and if we want, take it back & forth. Does this make sense, and is it possible? I tried swapping receivers between home & the old place up north, but without much luck. I seem to recall doing a switch check, but don't recall why. Any help?

Just so you know, Dish does not allow receivers on the same account in use at two different locations at the same time, if you are not using the receiver while you are at the secondary location, you would be fine. The setup you posted will work, if you have the same dish setup (arc and type of lnb's) you may not have to do anything. If it is different, you would need to run a check switch each time you move a receiver. Also, if the secondary place is in a different dma, you may need to call Dish each time in order to have local channels. This does happen a lot, it is referred to as a snowbird account.
