How was someone able to change my appointment?

I had an upgrade scheduled for today from 12-4pm, I waited until 5pm until I decided to give Directv a call. Apparently my "spouse" had called at 8am to change the appointment. First of all I don't have a spouse and wouldn't they have to verify the number/address/account information etc before they could even do something like that?

My dad is the account holder, but he doesn't speak any English and I handle all the bills and make all the changes etc. He didn't make any changes and my mom's English is worse than his so I know it wasn't her. The number on file is my cell phone, which only I have had access to and I'm pretty sure I was using it to read articles while I was on the crapper at 8am this morning so they sure as hell weren't calling from it.

I'm less annoyed at having to reschedule the whole thing than I am at how easy it was for someone to just change something on your account by claiming to be your spouse.

I don't think anybody called and changed your appointment, I think DirecTV made a mistake. If there is someone going around posing as a spouse to change scheduled DirecTV appointments, that seems like an awful lot of trouble for no benefit, unless of course the person doing this has been hired by Dish Network, hmmmm.
