Genie mini audio issue

I have my Genie mini connected to my TV via HDMI. I also have the Genie connected via a digital coaxial cable to an audio receiver which does not have HDMI capabilities. At night when I go to sleep I like to listen to some of the music channels thru my audio receiver. Initially, when the TV is still on, I can hear music playing thru my amplifier's speakers, however when I turn off my TV, the sound goes away completely..As soon as I turn the TV back on, the sound from the amplifier returns..I would think that the two should be able to function independently since the TV is not connected to the amp in any way....Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Dear Mr(s) Scrim (you didn't leave a 1st name):

I'm surprised that no one has replied to your post yet. About this problem, I'm going to offer you my best guess. There's a feature of HDMI that goes like this. When two devices are connected via HDMI, it's possible that, when you turn off one of them, a signal is sent to the other one to have it power off as well. This makes sense in most cases, since if the TV is off, why should the Genie Mini stay on?

So to leave YOUR Genie on when the TV is off, you need to get into the TV's setup menu, find the HDMI setting called HDC Control, and turn it off. This will leave the Genie powered on 24/7, though.

If you can't find this setting however, just leave the TV on and sidestep the issue.

Hope this helps....MPEG-0
